"Situation Summary" (Qingkuang Huibian 情况汇编) is an internal publication (still today?) published and edited by the party central organ "People's Daily" (人民日报).

From the numbers and dates of available issues, it can be assumed that the information bulletin appeared several times a day. It was produced exclusively for high-ranking party and government officials to inform about events that could not be covered (or covered to the same extent) by regular media. It still is a common practice in China that journalists not only write for a "public" newspaper, but also for several restricted/confidential information bulletins.

There are a number of similar "internal" (内部) media for selected groups of cadres in China. The issues available from the H.C. Fung Library of Harvard University report on critical dazibao and political debates among the Democracy Wall activists, including discussions with foreign observers. They provide a rare insight into the kind of Information high-ranking officials received at that time.
